Jimmy Carter says he is ‘at ease’ with death

Recent health scares have everyone worried about former President Jimmy Carter — except for Carter himself.

According to Breitbart, the Georgia native and former president stated on Sunday that when that time comes, he is “completely at ease with death.”

Prayers Answered

It seems like forever, but it was only about five years ago when Carter’s death seemed imminent. He had been diagnosed with brain cancer and was expected to die quickly.

But instead of fretting, the former president turned to God and made a request — but not the request you would think. He did not ask to have his life extended, but rather, to have a proper attitude about death.

Not long after, Carter stated he felt at ease, no longer worrying about an event he clearly could not control.

“It didn’t really matter to me whether I died or lived,” he said. “Except I was going to miss my family, and miss the work at the Carter Center and miss teaching your Sunday school service sometimes and so forth. All those delightful things.”

As the oldest living president, all eyes are on Carter whenever something happens that is health-related. Over the last few months, Carter has had several scares, including a fall in which he fractured his pelvis.

At his age, falls can quickly lead to significant health issues and even death, but Carter does not want anyone worrying about him.

Still in the Game

Jimmy Carter has largely spent his twilight years soaking up the best lift has to offer, but during Donald Trump’s presidency, he’s stepped out of the shadows to make a few comments about the current commander in chief.

Trump and Carter have enjoyed an odd relationship over the years, with Trump even reportedly seeking Carter’s counsel at times. That, however, has completely changed in recent months, as Carter has been much harsher in his criticism of the 45th president.

Several months ago, Carter stated it would be a “disaster” if 2020 resulted in the re-election of Trump. His wife, Rosalynn Carter, who is usually very reserved and out of the spotlight, also hoped for “a new president.”

But only time will tell if they get their wish.
