Amid sagging approval ratings related to his administration’s withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan, one congressional Republican is advocating for President Joe Biden to be removed from office.
Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX), who previously served as the White House physician, determined that Biden is not “cognitively prepared” for the duties of the presidency.
“We’re looking horrible right now”
As a result of perceived declining mental faculties, Jackson said that that the president has become a liability and should either step down or be forced out of the White House.
Even as the nation’s image is battered on the world stage and Americans remain trapped behind enemy lines in Afghanistan, Biden has been largely hidden from public view as he enjoyed an extended vacation.
Jackson weighed in on the issue during an appearance on Fox & Friends First this week.
“We’re looking horrible right now on the world stage,” he said on Friday. “This is an absolute national embarrassment. And instead of being out in front of this and talking about what’s going on, and what went wrong, and what the plan was, and what we’re going to do next, Biden’s just been in hiding again, as he always has.”
“We put them in a bad position”
He concluded that the president’s behavior “hasn’t inspired any confidence in our allies” who are now “very upset with this.”
Biden came into office with the rallying cry that “America is back,” but seven months later, allies around the world beg to differ.
“The Brits, the Germans, the French, they’re very upset with us for pulling out, and we didn’t really even give them any heads up,” Jackson declared. “We put them in a bad position too. They have people stuck in Afghanistan now that they’re having to try to get out. Biden, once again, has failed us. He’s embarrassed us internationally. And you know, honestly, it is time for him to leave.”
Former President Donald Trump’s fiercest opponents toyed with the idea of forcing him out of office using a constitutional provision for unfit presidents — but Jackson said such a move might actually be necessary where Biden is concerned.
Echoing the growing rate of disapproval for the president, Jackson predicted that Biden will either resign or “his own party will remove through the 25th Amendment.”
