President Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, is breaking records.
Fox News reported Saturday that while fundraising for her father’s re-election, Ivanka Trump broke the single-day fundraising record set by none other than former President Barack Obama. And that’s just the start of it.
Ivanka trumps Obama’s record
The record-breaking day occurred back in September, when Ivanka Trump stopped in Austin, Texas. There, the president’s daughter managed to raise $4.5 million in a single day, setting a new record for one day of campaign fundraising, according to Fox.
The record was last set in 2014 by Obama, when the then-president brought in a single-day haul of $3.8 million, Fox reported. But Ivanka Trump smashed that last month by nearly three-quarters of $1 million.
In fact, the president’s daughter, who is also a senior White House adviser, has seen a lot of success on the campaign trail for her father.
Just last week, for example, she raised $13 million at three different stops in California and at one stop in Michigan. Since August, she has held more than 30 fundraising events, and she has brought in more than $35 million, Fox News reports.
It is no secret that President Trump’s campaign has been significantly trailing Democrat Joe Biden’s in terms of cash. At the end of September, Biden had $177.3 million on hand, while the president only had $63.1 million, according to an NPR report cited by Fox. That’s an almost $150 million gap.
Ivanka Trump’s hauls have been helping to reduce that discrepancy, but she isn’t done yet. The president’s eldest daughter has more stops planned with Election Day just hours away.
“A remarkably effective combination”
The demographic that Ivanka Trump has reportedly been targeting is an important one for the president’s re-election: suburban women.
Many believe that group propelled President Trump to victory in 2016. This time around, however, polls have Biden winning this demographic easily.
In addition to bringing in some money, Ivanka Trump has been looking to change that.
“As a working mother who has dedicated her career to the improvement of women’s lives, Ivanka intrinsically understands the issues facing American families today,” Mercedes Schlapp, a senior adviser for Trump’s 2020 campaign, explained in an interview with Politico, according to Fox. “Ivanka Trump can speak to President Trump’s success from the perspective of both a policy adviser and close family member — a remarkably effective combination on the campaign trail,” Schlapp added.
