‘It would be a tragedy’: Zelensky’s former press secretary says Harris shouldn’t become president

In response to a video of Vice President Kamala Harris laughing when she was asked whether the U.S. would accept Ukrainian refugees, the former press secretary for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on Twitter that it would be a “tragedy” if Harris was ever elected president.

“It would be a tragedy if this woman won the presidency,” Iuliia Mendel, Mr. Zelenskyy’s former spokesperson wrote.

She later deleted the tweet, but nothing really ever disappears on Twitter.

Still a disaster

The giggles occurred during a press conference Harris did in Warsaw with Polish President Andrzej Duda.

After a reporter asked Harris if the U.S. would take in Ukrainian refugees, she gave the platitude, “A friend in need is a friend indeed.” Then she laughed uproariously at her own line.

What was that even supposed to mean? Once she stopped laughing, Duda said he had asked Harris to speed up the process for Ukrainians to join their families in the U.S.

What is her deal?

Mendel wasn’t the only one bothered by Harris’s laughter.

“Kamala Harris has been very consistent during her live remarks with Poland’s leader,” said former Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos. “She is awkwardly laughing. Again. Discussing refugees is no laughing matter. Why she laughs at this is deranged.”

Harris also laughed while discussing the Afghanistan withdrawal and when she was asked last year when she would go visit the border after President Joe Biden tasked her with working to solve that situation.

Here is a compilation of her awkward laughs, which are not earning her any favor with voters.
