AOC says impeachment is ‘on the table’ as Dems seek to block Trump from naming new SCOTUS justice

New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D) just rocked D.C. by confirming that impeachment is not off the table for Democrats in their effort to stop President Donald Trump from naming a replacement for Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg before November’s election.

According to the Daily Wire, the question was posed to AOC at a press conference on Sunday.

“Congresswoman, you mentioned being open to all ideas to buy time,” a reporter said, according to the Daily Wire. “Would you be in support of potentially reviewing talks of impeachment hearings either against the attorney general or the president?”

Ocasio-Cortez’s response made her opinion clear.

Options “on the table”

According to the Daily Wire, AOC said Congress “must” consider “all” of the options. “Well, you know, I think — I believe that certainly there has been an enormous amount of law-breaking in the Trump administration. I believe that Attorney General [Bill] Barr is unfit for office and that he has pursued potentially law-breaking behavior,” the congresswoman said, according to the Daily Wire.

She went on: “That being said, these are procedures and decisions that are largely up to House Democratic leadership. But I believe that also we must consider, again, all of the tools available to our disposal, and that all of these options should be entertained and on the table.”

It was a response that turned AOC’s New York Democrat colleague, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, into a bobblehead, nodding in agreement. Take a look at video first shared by the Daily Wire:

“Arrows in our quiver”

Of course, AOC wasn’t the only one who suggested impeaching Trump as a means of buying Dems some time. In an interview Sunday with ABC News, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said her caucus is willing to “use every arrow in [their] quiver,” Fox News reported.

“We have our options. We have arrows in our quiver that I’m not about to discuss right now, but the fact is we have a big challenge in our country,” Pelosi remarked, according to Fox. “This president has threatened to not even accept the results of the election.”

But the election is exactly the reason that we need nine members on the Supreme Court bench. If November’s results are contested, it could come down to the Supreme Court — and a potential 4–4 decision would only serve to sow chaos.

Democrats can try all they want to stop Trump from fulfilling his constitutional duty, but at the end of the day, the president is the one thinking about the American people. Dems, on the other hand, are only worried about themselves.
