Trump crackdown fears leave large number of illegal immigrants opting out of welfare programs

The welfare system in our country appears to be getting a bit of a break.

According to reports, undocumented immigrants are dropping their benefits in record numbers out of fear of being deported.

Zero Tolerance

The butterfly effect of the Trump administration’s zero tolerance policy is finally starting to take hold.

Every year, hundreds of millions of our tax dollars are spent on supporting undocumented immigrants.

We are providing them with healthcare, food stamps, housing assistance, etc. with monies that could be put to far better use.

While blue states are fighting the new policy tooth and nail, conservative governors are embracing it.

The result…

“Agencies in at least 18 states say they’ve seen drops of up to 20 percent in enrollment, and they attribute the change largely to fears about the immigration policy,” Politico reported.

Build the Wall

Regardless, we are still waiting for the government to move forward with the construction of a better border wall.

Democrats continue to fight any legislation supporting its progress.

This stands as the one major campaign promise Trump made that has yet to see any true forward movement.

Trump realizes its construction is a must if he is going to keep his base happy.

So much so, in fact, Trump has recently started to tout shutting down the government if Dems don’t start to give on this subject.

Democrats are fully aware of the fact if there is no progress on the wall, their candidate in the 2020 election will be able to hold this over Trump’s head as a broken promise.

In the process, though, the party has lost focus on the needs of those who are already citizens of this country.

As it stands, the Dems are pinning their fate on two major issues for the elections in 2018 and 2020: Impeachment of Trump and Rights of Undocumented Immigrants.

That is not exactly the best way to win over Americans.
