Last week, President Donald Trump sent the media into a tizzy by revealing that he was taking hydroxychloroquine as a preventive measure against the coronavirus.
On Sunday, President Trump confirmed he has quit taking hydroxychloroquine, having finished the daily regimen.
‘I’m still here’
President Trump has been an advocate for the hydroxychloroquine treatment since the very beginning of the pandemic.
Even though many doctors have gone on social media saying they have had success with the drug, trials did not go so well, and the WHO recently abandoned its hydroxychloroquine trials.
None of that stopped Trump from believing in it, though, and he has now apparently completed a two-week preventive regimen treatment of the drug.
On finishing the treatment, Trump stated, “Finished, just finished. And by the way, I’m still here. To the best of my knowledge, here I am.”
Still taking shots
This will hopefully end the snarky shots the Democrats have been taking at Trump over the treatment regimen. Because of the known side effects of the drug, some Democrats, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), took some cheap shots at Trump while they had the chance.
While interviewing with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, Pelosi feigned concern over the president taking the drug due to health “concerns.” “As far as the President is concerned, he’s our President and I would rather he not be taking something that has not been approved by the scientists, especially in his age group and in his, shall we say, weight group — morbidly obese, they say,” she stated. “So, I think it’s not a good idea.”
While Pelosi and her fellow Democrats got a giggle out of her characterization of Trump, her comments failed a fact check by CNN.
Going by Trump’s latest annual physical report, the president stands at 6’3” and weighs 243 pounds, far from what would be classified as “morbidly obese.”
Keep in mind, Democrats are doing this while being highly critical of the president’s past comments about the appearance of both men and women. Pelosi’s comments are yet another example of the old Democrat standby: “Do as I say, not as I do.”
Meanwhile, President Trump is still testing negative for COVID-19 and does not appear to have been impacted negatively at all by the treatment regimen.
