Rep. Ilhan Omar’s divorce finalized in Minnesota
The drama surrounding Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and her divorce is finally over.
On Tuesday, the court documents were processed and she is now done with the matter. Ilhan Omar has officially ended her marriage to Ahmed Hirsi, according to Breitbart.
In the court filings, the reason cited for the divorce was an “irretrievable breakdown” in their marriage.
However, based on various reports, this goes much deeper than that one simple reason. This was actually Ilhan and Hirsi’s second go-round, and it ended exactly like the first time: in divorce.
However, this time, Omar was tied to a scandal with another man. Over the summer, pictures surfaced of Omar and another man — one of her campaign consultants — dining at a restaurant far away from the event where Omar was slated to appear.
According to witnesses, they were very cuddly during the dinner, but Omar has always denied there was anything going on.
Omar’s narrative, however, was blown out of the water when the man’s wife cited in her own divorce filing that her husband was having an affair with the congresswoman.
One and Done
This is just one scandal that has been tied to Omar, not exactly the news she needed heading into her first re-election cycle.
Omar also has at least two campaign finance violations on record, possibly more. She has also been tied to some radical organizations supportive of terrorist groups, and it seems as though every time she opens her mouth, she is saying something critical of Israel.
In a recent House vote, Omar voted “present” rather than “yea” on a bipartisan resolution recognizing the genocide of Armenians by the Ottoman Empire.
Even though Omar represents a large Muslim community in her Minnesota district, even her own constituents seem to be growing tired of her controversy.
Hopefully, come Election Day 2020, they will correct the mistake they made in 2018 and boot her from office.
