Fans of ER will be stunned to know one of the former stars of the show has been killed.
After more than a 90-minute encounter with the South Pasadena police, actress Vanessa Marquez pulled a realistic-looking BB gun on the police and was shot dead by responding officers.
Marquez, 49, was apparently suffering from mental health issues.
Officers arrived at her apartment during a routine welfare check, and found her “having seizures,” according to a police statement. Paramedics were called.
When the paramedics arrived, Marquez refused care and became hostile. “While speaking to her, officers became aware she was possibly suffering from mental health issues, became uncooperative, and appeared to be unable to care for herself,” the statement continued.
For almost two hours, the police, paramedics and a mental health clinician tried to help her, but she was having none of it.
Marquez eventually armed herself with what appeared to be a semi-automatic weapon.
When she raised it and aimed at the officers, they shot and killed her.
After the shooting, police noted the gun was actually a BB gun made to replicate an actual handgun.
Marquez was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
You Know It’s Coming
It is only a matter of time before liberals start clamoring about the “murderous” police.
Based on the early reports, though, the police had to respond quickly once she took out her weapon and aimed it at them.
It is easy to criticize after the fact, but at that moment, it appeared as though she had a real weapon and was prepared to use it.
Marquez is probably best-known from her days on the hit TV show ER.
She played Wendy Goldman, an emergency room nurse.
Marquez worked on the show from 1993 to 1997.
Post-ER, Marquez worked sparingly, having only six more credits to her name on her IMBD profile.
