Eric Holder questions MAGA voters: ‘Exactly when did you think America was great?’

Democrats have gone from saying “America has always been great” to “America has never been great.”

During a Wednesday interview on MSNBC, Obama-era attorney general Eric Holder asked Trump supporters, “Exactly when did you think America was great?”

No Patriotism

MSNBC host Ari Melber asked Holder, “There is a lot of talk about America being a leader as a democracy, quote-unquote, in the 1800s when women and African-Americans couldn’t vote. What kind of democracy is that?”

“That’s exactly right,” Holder replied. “And that’s what I hear these things about ‘let’s make America great again’ and I think to myself, ‘exactly when did you think America was great’?”

The sentiment that America has nothing to be proud of seems to be a growing one within the Democrat party. Last year, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo was very critical of the history of this country, saying, “We are not going to Make America Great Again. It was never that great.”

He was also greatly criticized for making the comments, as most believed it was nothing more than a way to take a shot at President Donald Trump’s wildly successful 2016 campaign slogan, Make America Great Again.

Holder now seems to be taking the same approach in attacking Trump and his supporters.

Like Cuomo, Holder was once considered a viable candidate by Democrats. And like Cuomo, Holder is no longer considering running, so the gloves are apparently coming off.

Slamming America

Unfortunately, Holder is pointing to times of the past as though the country has not evolved and moved forward.

Yes, slavery existed, but it was ended in 1864. Women were given the right to vote in the early 1900s and are now a prominent force in both our political and professional worlds. America fought against communist dictatorships on the world stage and came back victorious.

This country has moved the rights of minorities forward at an unprecedented rate compared to other countries and cultures. Is there still progress to be made, absolutely, there always is.

And yes, this country has had some dark moments, but most Americans would agree she always comes out on top. To think Democrats are now attacking our country as a way to undercut Trump is simply outrageous.
