Fox News reports that Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson was recently involved in a police chase.
Thompson is known for her role in TLC's reality show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.
For those unfamiliar with the show, here's Amazon's billing:
Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, is an inside look into Alana's world where the six-year-old pageant sensation proves that she is more than just a Go-Go Juice-drinking beauty queen. When she's not chasing after crowns, Alana's with her family in rural Georgia doing what her family does best: four-wheeling through mud pits and picking up road kill for the family cookout.
The show lasted four seasons from August 2012 to April 2017. It ended when a cast member revealed that her child was fathered by a convicted sex offender.
Today, Thompson is 17 years old. And, she and her 21-year-old boyfriend, Dralin Carswell, just got into a run-in with the police.
The incident took place last Tuesday, at about 4:30 p.m., in Monroe County, Georgia.
It began, according to local outlets, when a police officer ran the tag of a Dodge Charger and discovered that the owner of the vehicle had outstanding warrants. The driver of that vehicle was Carswell. Thompson and Julian Malik Divon Williams were passengers.
As soon as the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver took off, which led to a three-mile police chase.
The chase lasted until the officer was able to perform a successful precision immobilization technique (PIT), which spun and disabled the vehicle.
Carswell, according to People magazine, was subsequently arrested by police. He was charged with driving under the influence and fleeing police, in addition to the outstanding warrants. Carswell was also given a speeding ticket.
It turns out that the 24-year-old Williams had outstanding warrants of his own. And so, he was also arrested.
But, the police did not charge Thompson with anything.
Carswell, according to reports, spent two days in jail before being released on a $25,000 bond. Subsequent reporting has also discovered that police also found marijuana in his vehicle and that the outstanding warrant stemmed from a misdemeanor traffic charge.
It does not appear that Thompson has commented on the situation. She, in the past, has received much criticism for her relationship with Carswell considering their age difference. Thompson once responded to the criticism, saying, "I don’t care because, at the end of the day, my sister approves, his mom approves, and we’re happy, so what fans got to say or what haters got to say I don’t really care."
