Harris says Supreme Court is a threat to 'fundamental freedoms' while claiming not to be an 'alarmist'

Vice President Kamala Harris railed against the "activist" Supreme Court that threatens "fundamental freedoms" during an interview published Thursday, Fox News reported. Harris has been outspoken against the court following the overturning of Roe v. Wade abortion.

Harris has made abortion rights her particular crusade since the 2022 decision and has taken aim directly at the high court. "This court has shown itself to be an activist court," Harris said to the New York Times.

"I worry about fundamental freedoms across the board," she added. The vice president demurred on naming exactly what freedoms she's worried about losing besides the right to kill babies in the womb, though she dropped hints.

"I don’t want to, at this point, use my voice in a way that is alarmist. But this court has made it very clear that they are willing to undo recognized rights," the vice president said.

A Dire Prediction

Besides mischaracterizing the Supreme Court's actions and mission, Harris insinuated that Justice Clarence Thomas has his own sinister agenda. She pointed to the fact that Thomas said in his opinion on Roe that the court could extend the same logic to "reconsider" other decisions that allowed for same-sex marriage.

"You could even look at Clarence Thomas saying a lot of the quiet part out loud. Just look at what he said, and then maybe that gives us some indication," Harris claimed.

"Just look at one of the justices to see where they might go next," she added, sounding alarmist. Of course, what Thomas was actually writing about in his decision was the court's flawed logic that underpins the sexual liberation agenda.

The Roe decision was widely regarded as a bad legal precedent and was overturned under such conditions. Contrary to Democratic talking points, it was not because court decided that abortion is too abhorrent to tolerate in the U.S.

Rather, the Supreme Court rightly found that the court decision that guaranteed it nationwide was fundamentally flawed. Abortion is not outlawed because the decision was reversed, but instead the issue has been sent back to the states to decide on their own.

Targeting Trump

Harris couldn't help but take aim at former President Donald Trump as well in the discussion over abortion, even though he has moderated on abortion rights. "I don’t know what is in his mind," Harris said of Trump.

"I will say that when you look at Trump abortion bans around the country, those abortion bans suggest that there’s a lack of trust of women to be able to know what’s in their own best interest," the vice president said. She also engaged in alarmist warnings about pregnancies being monitored to ensure no illegal abortions happen.

She also said she foresees Trump signing a national ban on abortion despite his recent pivot on the issue. "I think the American people recognize when they’re being gaslit and have the ability to decipher beyond the charade," Harris said.

The reason Harris and the Democrats have run with a pro-abortion platform is because it's all they have left. The economy is terrible, the world is unstable with new wars under Biden's watch, and America is worse off with him at the helm.

Harris has to lean into abortion as the only issue that is even remotely winnable for Democrats. The fact that their victory may rely on the right to kill babies speaks volumes about their priorities.
