As chatter continues about a possible replacement for Vice President Kamala Harris in 2024, Harris has received a number of question from reporters recently regarding her thoughts on the next election.
According to the New York Post, in a Wall Street Journal interview published last week, Harris claimed that she hasn’t thought much about the 2024 presidential election, and she revealed during the interview that she hasn’t discussed 2024 at all with President Joe Biden.
As far as why that conversation hadn’t yet taken place, Harris cited the fact that the two have only been in office for 11 months, and seemed to indicate that they’re too busy with the COVID-19 pandemic to hold such discussions.
Even though the White House has said a number of times in past weeks that Biden will seek reelection in 2024, pundits from both sides of the aisle have casted serious doubt, given the president’s age, and the glaringly obvious fact that he’s simply not as sharp as he once was.
“We do not talk”
Amid reports of an office in disarray and on the heels of several high-profile resignations, Harris has come under fire from the press recently regarding what her plans might be for 2024, as well as the increased buzz that she could be replaced by someone like Transporation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.
When asked by the Journal about her conversations with Biden concerning the 2024 presidential election, Harris made clear that it’s not a subject that has been broached.
“I’m not going to talk about our conversations, but I will tell you this without any ambiguity: We do not talk about nor have we talked about re-election, because we haven’t completed our first year and we’re in the middle of a pandemic,” Harris responded.
Harris was directly asked whether or not she believes the White House regarding Biden’s intention to make another run for office in 2024.
“I’ll be very honest: I don’t think about it, nor have we talked about it,” Harris replied.
White House confirms
White House deputy press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked Thursday whether or not Harris is included when the White House makes the claim that Biden will seek office again in 2024.
“Yes he does. There’s no change. Yes, yes,” Jean-Pierre responded.
In the poor cognitive shape that Biden is in right now, which America gets to witness on a regular basis, let’s just hope and pray that the White House is saying what it thinks it needs to say to maintain order, as it’s doubtful that in three years Biden will even understand where he’s at or how he got there, let alone run for the presidency again.
