California Sen. Kamala Harris (D) has been MIA as wildfires continue to burn in her home state — and now, she’s taking flak for it.
According to Breitbart, Harris hasn’t given much of her attention to Californians devastated by recent wildfires, and has instead “continued to direct the bulk of her attention to climate change.”
What’s more, Breitbart reported, “few of the measures she sponsored or co-sponsored [in the Senate] — if any at all — have had a meaningful impact on the Californians facing the wildfires dominating the west.”
Now, Californians want to know when their junior senator will get back to working for them. But as November draws closer, it’s looking less and less likely.
Tough times in the Golden State
Indeed, the state of California right now can best be described as a hot mess, literally. Between the COVID-19 pandemic and massive wildfires that have destroyed homes across the West Coast, the Golden State needs leadership. But it seems they’re not getting any of it.
When Harris does make an appearance, it’s more for the photo-op than to do good, according to one California family who accused the senator and California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) of using their burned-down home as a backdrop for her left-wing agenda, as Breitbart reported.
“That truck you are standing by is my dad[‘]s work truck,” Bailee Patten wrote in a Facebook post shared by Breitbart. “That land with all the rubble your standing next too, that’s my house I grew up in. You never got my parents[‘] permission to go on our property, nor did you ask if we needed help. What you did do is take my [family’s] loss and parade it all over social media and news networks to push your agenda.” Take a look:
President Donald Trump loves to give nicknames to his opponents, and it seems “MIA Kamala” would be a good one for the vice-presidential hopeful. While campaigning to be president, Harris has missed major disasters in her home state, instead focusing her attention elsewhere in the country.
How do you think that makes her constituents feel?
It’s hard to do the job of a U.S. senator while running around the country campaigning, but as Breitbart reports, Harris seems to barely even be trying. “Harris has appeared to focus her attention on sounding the alarm on climate change and environmental justice rather than proposing direct action to mitigate the wildfires in her state,” the outlet reported Tuesday.
Breitbart added: “The senator’s office did not respond to Breitbart News’s request for comment.”
