As the tensions between Iran and the United States rise, President Donald Trump warned he would “end” Iran if they ever threaten our country again.
He has at least one supporter on that front in Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who encouraged the President to “stand firm” and warned Iran of an “overwhelming military response” that could end the Iranian regime once and for all.
The Iranian Threat
The relationship between Iran and the United States always seems as though it is teetering on a dangerous ledge. Over the last week, though, the situation has gotten considerably worse.
After the United States sent a carrier strike group to the area, Iran began issuing some veiled and not-so-veiled threats towards President Trump.
When Iran sent a missile within a mile of our Baghdad embassy, Trump had seen and heard about all he was going to take.
Trump warned Iranian leadership if they continue to go down this path, he will “end” them.
The support for Trump getting into a skirmish with Iran has been mixed.
The last thing we want is another unnecessarily drawn-out war. Conservative pundit Tomi Lahren recently encouraged the President to stay out of Iran unless the action will be swift and decisive.
Senator Graham has been far more supportive of Trump. While liberals are saying Trump wants war, any war, Graham puts the onus of this problem on Iran.
He stated, “The fault lies with the Iranians, not the United States or any other nation. If the Iranian threats against American personnel and interests are activated, we must deliver an overwhelming military response.”
Military leaders are still weighing their options, but there have been reports of recommendations that more than 100,000 troops be sent to the area.
