Democrats have been unable to create a path to impeachment against Donald Trump, even though they have spent the last two years trying.
After the Mueller hearings, former South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy blasted Dems for hoping Mueller would do their job and draw that roadmap for them, something he obviously failed to do.
Do Your Own Dirty Work
Clearly, the moment the Mueller report was released, the Democrat effort to impeach Trump took a major blow.
Even so, Democrats tried to continue to push the narrative. Eventually, Rep. Al Green (D-TX) forced a House vote on impeachment — and failed miserably.
It was proof that while many Democrats were railing for impeachment, secretly they knew they did not have a case. For one brief moment on Wednesday, Democrats thought they had gotten what they wanted when Mueller misspoke during the hearings.
However, when Mueller left the Judiciary hearing and moved over to the Intelligence hearing, he corrected his statement and sent Dems back to the drawing board.
Unmitigated Train Wreck
Democrats have never had the evidence needed to impeach Trump because it does not exist. They were all hoping Mueller would give it to them, but he gave them nothing.
On this, Gowdy stated, “Before Bob Mueller had uttered a single syllable of the report, 60 House Democrats moved to impeach him. What they wanted was Mueller to come in and do their job for them — to issue this roadmap that could lead them to impeachment.”
There were two points Gowdy used to drive his opinion home. First and foremost, Dems held these hearings with the premise that Trump was guilty until proven innocent, the complete opposite of the premise of our legal system.
Furthermore, no prosecutor has the power to exonerate anyone. The prosecutor must pursue the evidence and indict or dismiss the case.
Generally, if there is no indictment, a prosecutor will NOT make any further statement giving the appearance of guilt to suit a narrative, which is something Mueller did when he originally defended the report.
Democrats are desperate to remove Trump from office. Unfortunately for them, the Mueller saga is over, and it did not yield the necessary evidence. As Gowdy stated, this was a complete and “unmitigated train wreck.”
