Gov. Kemp files lawsuit to protect federal workers from termination over vaccine refusal

As President Joe Biden and his administration continue its attempts to push as many COVID-19 vaccine mandates on as many groups as they can, Republican governors are preparing to fight back, including Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R).

According to the Daily Caller, in an effort to prevent federal workers from being forced to receive a COVID-19 vaccination, Kemp, alongside Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr, announced in a recent statement that they will lead the charge against the Biden administration’s unfair policies.

The two received an outpouring of support for their lawsuit from a number of additional states, including Alabama, Idaho, Kansas, Utah, West Virginia, and South Carolina.

In the press release regarding the lawsuit, Kemp’s office wrote: “The plaintiffs are asking the court to enjoin the defendants and those acting in concert with them from enforcing the mandate on any State of Georgia federal contracting agency, subcontractor, and employee.”

The lawsuit

Gov. Kemp and Georgia AG Carr made clear in their complaint that they won’t stand for such actions.

“The complaint, in part, explains how the Biden Administration’s unprecedented, unlawful, and unconstitutional COVID-19 vaccination mandate for federal contractors has placed Georgia’s state agencies and elected officials, including Governor Kemp, the Georgia Department of Agriculture, and the University System of Georgia, in an untenable situation,” the statement read.

Gov. Kemp added: “In addition to being an unlawful and unconstitutional overreach, this vaccine mandate on federal contractors will only further divide Americans and hamstring our economy.”

The statement went on to cite recent polling data that indicates a large number of federal workers and contractors are willing to leave their jobs if they have to, in protest of COVID-19 vaccine mandates, which obviously puts many states, like Georgia, in jeopardy of a further disrupted workforce.

“Heavy-handed directive”

Georgia AG Carr held nothing back in his assessment of the situation, vowing to challenge the Biden admin at every turn.

“We will challenge this heavy-handed directive that not only serves as a clear violation of law but also places immense burden on our state. Just as we believe in protecting the physical health and well-being of our fellow Georgians, we are equally dedicated to protecting them from the unlawful actions of the federal government,” Carr was quoted as saying.

Thankfully there are a growing number of Republican politicians who have decided to take a stand against Biden’s mandates. Hopefully, more follow suit.
