U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) says that the White House of President Joe Biden is "attacking" her.

Greene made the remark during an X thread that she began on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2023.

There, Greene said that the White House was specifically targeting her for "demanding" that an "impeachment inquiry" into Biden be launched before she votes to fund the government.

"The White House is attacking me for demanding an impeachment inquiry before I’ll vote to fund one penny to our over bloated $32 TRILLION dollar in debt failing government," Greene wrote.

Greene's conditions

There is currently a push for House Republicans to launch an impeachment inquiry into Biden, and Greene is one of the leaders of this push.

Greene, last week, publicly stated that she will not vote to fund the government unless several conditions are met. Among the conditions were the defunding of special counsel Jack Smith - the man whom the Biden administration has chosen to indict former president Donald Trump - and the firing of special counsel David Weiss - the man whom the Biden administration has chosen to lead an investigation into Hunter Biden.

But, Greene did not stop there. She placed several other conditions on her vote, including that she would be a "no" vote unless an impeachment inquiry into Biden is launched.

The White House responds

On Thursday, Biden's White House responded to Greene's conditions.

White House spokesperson Andrew Bates said, "The last thing the American people deserve is for extreme House members to trigger a government shutdown that hurts our economy, undermines our disaster preparedness, and forces our troops to work without guaranteed pay."

Bates continued:

The House Republicans responsible for keeping the government open already made a promise to the American public about government funding, and it would be a shame for them to break their word and fail the country because they caved to the hardcore fringe of their party in prioritizing a baseless impeachment stunt over high stakes needs Americans care about deeply – like fighting fentanyl trafficking, protecting our national security, and funding FEMA.

Greene takes to X/Twitter

It appears that it was in response to this statement from the White House that Greene launched her X thread on Saturday, stating that the White House was "attacking" her.

In the thread, Greene continued her push for an impeachment inquiry into Biden, writing:

Greene does have a point here. And, it appears that House Republicans are moving closer and closer to launching this impeachment inquiry into Biden.

USA Today reports:

When lawmakers return to Capitol Hill after a summer break, one of the first orders of business among House Republicans could be pursuing an impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., who has sought to tamp down talks of impeaching the president, gave his strongest indication Sunday he will pursue at least the first step in the impeachment process, calling it “a natural step forward.”
