The chair of the Arizona Republican Party still believes former Vice President Joe Biden’s win in the state will be reversed.
According to Breitbart, Dr. Kelli Ward said Wednesday that she thinks the race for the White House in Arizona will “ultimately be decided in favor of President Donald J. Trump.”
“A fundamental difference”
Ward’s comments came in a video update posted to YouTube on what Ward called “lawsuit day.”
The court was set to hear a case Wednesday over whether a hand audit of votes in Maricopa County should be done by precinct or by voting center.
According to a separate report from Breitbart, Arizona Republicans explained in a statement that “[t]here is a fundamental difference between sampling ‘polling centers’ and ‘precincts,’ most notable being the fact that there were only around 175 voting centers in this election but there were 748 precincts.”
Laying down the law
In their suit, Arizona Republicans argue that state law requires the hand-count to take place by precinct. But according to a statement issued by Ward when the suit was first filed, Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs established election procedures in the wake of COVID-19 that countered those laws, calling for the audit to take place by voting center, instead.
“The fact of the matter is, we have to determine whether state statute as it exists is actually supreme to a manual written by a member of the executive branch,” Ward said at the time, according to Breitbart. “So we are asking that that be clarified and that lawsuit is going forward.”
On Wednesday, Ward doubled down, saying the suit will come down to whether the resolution passed in Maricopa County should “take second fiddle to an election procedures manual created and printed by one member of the executive branch: Katie Hobbs, the secretary of State, who has called Trump supporters — remember — neo-Nazis.”
According to Ward, the answer to that question should be a resounding no.
Ward’s big prediction
Speaking more generally, Ward said that she expects President Trump to not only win Arizona, but also to win nationwide in the end.
“I’m going to tell you,” she said, as Breitbart reported. “I believe — I still do now, just as I did on election night — that this election will ultimately be decided in favor of President Donald J. Trump. Our 11 electoral votes will go to him.”
Currently, Joe Biden leads the president in Arizona by about 10,000 votes, according to Fox News, but as Ward made clear Wednesday, the state’s Republicans believe that when the “glitches, upload errors, ballot dumps, and more” are corrected, Trump will be handed the victory there.
