Researcher: Google manipulating voters to swing election to Democrats

It is impossible to deny that Silicon Valley is overwhelming left-leaning and staunchly opposed to President Donald Trump.

There is also no denying that the Big Tech firms wield unfathomable power over the information that Americans consume online, and a research psychologist has just revealed how those firms intend to use that influence over the people to try and swing the upcoming elections in favor of the Democrats, Breitbart reported.

Researcher reveals all

That astonishing revelation came from Dr. Robert Epstein, the senior research psychologist at the American Institute for Behavioral Research and Technology, who, by the way, is admittedly a left-leaning independent who favors Democrats himself, having voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016 and intending to vote for presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden in November.

Despite his own personal ideological leanings, however, Epstein has spent the past several years digging deep into the myriad ways in which Big Tech firms like Google and Facebook have surreptitiously utilized their powers to manipulate voters and steer undecideds toward Democrats and to depress the enthusiasm and support for Republicans.

The researcher spoke at great length about his troubling findings on Friday during an interview with host Alex Marlow on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily, and his entire interview is fascinating, frightening, and definitely worth a listen.

Manipulation effect

Epstein first spent a few moments describing what he has termed “Search Engine Manipulation Effect” and how it is used by Google to manipulate search suggestions and results in ways that users don’t even realize are having an influential impact, such as by suppressing information that would lead someone toward the conservative viewpoint while highlighting information that would lead toward the left-leaning one.

Marlow referenced a leak of a post-election private meeting at Google in 2016 during which top executives announced their intentions to make Trump’s style of populism “a blip in history” and noted the impact that Breitbart itself had already suffered via a “wildly diminished reach within Google.”

“I doubt that it’s a coincidence because it’s so easy for them to suppress content of any sort,” Epstein said and pointed to leaks in recent years revealing Google’s internal “blacklists” of certain websites that were to be specifically suppressed and kept hidden from the vast majority of users.

By any means necessary

“People don’t understand how big this threat is. You mentioned that leak, that video that you exposed which was quite astonishing,” he continued, according to Breitbart. “One of the things that was said there by one of their top executives is ‘we’re going to use every means at our disposal, all of Google’s power, to make sure Trump isn’t re-elected.’

“So if they’re using every single means at their disposal, then they’re using all of the techniques that I’ve discovered and probably more that I haven’t discovered yet,” Epstein added.

He went on: “That’s enough to shift roughly ten percent of the voting population of the United States with no one knowing they’re being manipulated and without leaving a paper trail for authorities to trace.”

The rest of the interview described in further detail how Google, Facebook, and others purposefully work to identify and manipulate undecided voters toward Democrats and how his team is working to catch the tech firms in the act of doing so, since there is, unfortunately, no other way to prevent it from happening.
