‘I’m not dead:’ The View’s Whoopi Goldberg reveals battle with pneumonia, sepsis

Whoopi Goldberg has been absent from ABC’s “The View” for more than a month now. While fans knew she was sick, they did not realize just how sick she was.

In a video appearance on the show Friday, Goldberg revealed she had developed sepsis from pneumonia, putting her “very, very close to leaving the earth.”

Out Sick

The last time fans saw Goldberg on “The View” was February 5.

Several weeks later, fans were told she had pneumonia.

But the seriousness of Goldberg’s condition wasn’t publicly known until this week.

She came down with a life-threatening case of double pneumonia that became septic.

Message to Fans

“I am up and moving around, not as fast as I’d like to be, but I am OK. I’m not dead,” she said in the video message.

“I came very, very close to leaving the Earth. Good news: I didn’t.”

Goldberg thanked fans for their support, and noted that even “people who are not huge fans” had expressed concern.

She did, however, say that she expects all that niceness to dissipate once she’s back on the show, and promised to share more details of her “interesting” experience.

Goldberg has been extremely critical of President Donald Trump from the moment he announced his candidacy for president.

Her criticism became more severe after he won, and she has since gone completely to the far left.
