Whoopi Goldberg shocked to catch COVID despite being fully vaccinated, boosted

The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg was stunned to learn Wednesday that she’d come down with COVID-19.

“I’ve done everything I was supposed to do,” Goldberg, a longtime host on the ABC daytime talk show, said Wednesday, after she tested positive for the coronavirus despite being fully vaccinated and having received a booster shot against the infection, Fox News reported.

“You don’t know where it is”

Goldberg joined her fellow co-hosts Wednesday remotely. She explained that she’d been away from the studio for weeks because of a COVID-19 exposure prior to the holidays.

“I left a couple of weeks ago, just before the break, because somebody I had been around tested positive for coronavirus, so I left. So I’ve been gone a long time, I feel,” Goldberg said, according to Fox.

She went on to say that she was eagerly anticipating returning to the studio after the holidays were over.

“And I was all excited and, you know, they have to test us, and so they sent people to test me, and they tested me, and it was like, ‘Oh no, you’re not coming back. We’re not sending anybody to your house. You have corona.’ And it was like, wait what?” Goldberg said, according to Fox.

“But that’s the thing about the omicron, you just don’t know where it is,” she said. “You don’t know where it is, who’s got it, who’s passing it.”

“Everything I was supposed to”

Goldberg insisted that she did “everything” she “was supposed to do.”

“It’s one of those things where you think I’ve done everything I was supposed to do,” Goldberg said Wednesday, according to Fox. “Yeah, it doesn’t stop omicron, and that’s the problem with a variant, because it gets stronger and does different stuff to you, so, you know, unless everybody gets vaccinated this is what we’re going to be facing for the next, you know, little while.” Take a look:

Deadline reported Monday that due to Goldberg and others testing positive or being in contact with others who had tested positive for the coronavirus, the show was forced to return to filming completely remotely after the New Year. It remains unclear when the co-hosts will return to the studio.

In addition to Goldberg, host Sunny Hostin also tested positive for COVID-19 and spent the majority of the holiday break in isolation away from her family in her own home, Decider reported this week.
