The bereaved families of the 13 heroes killed during the scramble out of Afghanistan two summers ago spoke up at an event Monday to demand accountability from President Biden.
In powerful, moving testimony, Darin Hoover, the father of Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Darin T. Hoover, urged Biden and his disgraced Cabinet to "resign" immediately.
“Do what our son did: Be a grown-a** man,” Hoover said. “Admit your mistakes. Learn from them so that this doesn’t happen ever, ever again. You all need to resign immediately."
It has been almost two years since the terror bombing at Hamid Karzai Airport, but accountability has been elusive.
The White House released a bogus report earlier this year blaming Trump, who was not president at the time, for the bloody, botched evacuation.
"Our sons and daughters have more integrity in their little toes than every one of them [Biden and his top officials] combined," Hoover said.
The crowd at Escondido City Hall also heard from Hoover's wife Kelly Barnett, who said her son died realizing his superiors didn't care about him.
"He told me, 'Mom, I now know the command cares nothing for us.' My son, these 12 others left this earth thinking that their command cared nothing for them," she said.
She said the government gave "false information" about their son's last moments.
"I was told to my face, he died on impact. That's not true. The only reason that I know this is because witnesses told me the truth," Barnett said. "I was lied to and basically told to shut up."
Other families at the forum - which was organized by Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Ca.) - described similar experiences of being ignored, insulted, and deceived by an administration too preoccupied with self-preservation to admit fault.
Cheryl Rex, the heartbroken mother of Marine Lance Cpl. Dylan R. Merola, said she realized the truth about her son's death was being "covered up" when Marines she was in touch with started changing their stories - and military officers showed her drone footage with a suspicious "three-minute lapse."
She also recounted her encounter with Biden after her son died. Biden - who was clearly going through a political routine, instead of consoling a human being in grief - invoked his son Beau, a veteran who died of brain cancer.
"My heart started beating faster and I started shaking, knowing that their son died from cancer and they were able to be by his side," Rex said.
While these families grieve, oily swamp creatures like John Kirby, General Milley, and Biden have yet to accept an iota of blame for this tragedy - instead describing the mission as an "extraordinary success."
