Ukrainian-born businessman Lev Parnas sent shockwaves through the nation last week in a bombshell interview with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow.
But Giuliani appeared on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle on Monday to defend himself against numerous accusations brought against him by Parnas, saying that Parnas’ “revelations” were really just a last-ditch effort to avoid jail time, according to Fox News.
“Heartbroken” by betrayal
Giuliani has extensive ties to Parnas. Giuliani admitted the pair were once very close and Parnas was even chosen as the godfather to his daughter.
Giuliani said in the interview: “Obviously, I was misled by him, I still feel sorry for him.”
When questioned about Parnas’ allegations by host Laura Ingraham, Giulini said: “The man is a demonstrated liar… He didn’t just lie, he lied stupidly — a stupid lie is when your partner Igor Fruman can contradict you.”
Trump’s personal lawyer went on: “A stupid lie is when there is a tape recording that can contradict you. A stupid lie is when there is a passport that can contradict you.”
Parnas has successfully created a firestorm of disinformation that has inflamed the impeachment trial, all in an effort to both distract from his own crimes.
Giuliani got right to the point when he said: “What’s his motivation? His motivation is not to go to prison, the same thing as Michael Cohen.”
Ready to testify
Giuliani has repeatedly debunked the claims that Parnas made. But with the power of the Mainstream Media, the misinformation has spread far and wide.
The only real way to truly put an end to the lies would be an official testimony from Giuliani in the impeachment trial.
For his part, Giuliani has said: “If I’m called as a witness, I’m prepared to do it. In fact, I wouldn’t mind being called as a witness for a lot of reasons, including being able to reveal the unbelievable amount of corruption that went on between the Democratic Party and Ukraine all throughout the Obama administration.”
Still, at this point, everything we are hearing needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Until we have testimony under oath, the misinformation will continue to spread.
