Rudy Giuliani facing investigation, possible indictment for financial dealings: Report

President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, is facing an investigation over possible campaign finance violations, along with an inquiry over the failure to register as a foreign agent — and rumors are swirling that Giuliani may soon face an indictment, according to Bloomberg.

This could signal it is time for President Trump to find someone a new lawyer, as Giuliani is going to have a lot of his own legal work to do.

A pending investigation?

According to the Washington Examiner, federal prosecutors are investigating whether Giuliani had a hand in or stood to profit from a proposed pipeline that would facilitate the transport of natural gas from the U.S. to Ukraine.

The plan was lobbied for by two business associates of Giuliani’s who have since been arrested and charged with funneling hundreds of thousands of dollars to U.S. officials in a separate case.

This association sparked further investigations into Giuliani, and he is now being accused of violating laws against bribing foreign officials, among other things.

“I would not be surprised if he gets indicted,” Mimi Rocah, a former federal prosecutor with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, said. “It’s clear Giuliani is up to his ears in shady stuff and there’s tons of smoke.”

Giuliani is a liability because of his proximity to President Trump, who already has enough trouble already. It doesn’t look good for a president battling impeachment to have a lawyer who is facing multiple charges.

And not only is Giuliani close to President Trump, but he is also involved in the impeachment inquiry. Giuliani is claimed to have been the one who pressured Ukraine to investigate corruption tied to Joe Bidens son, Hunter Biden, according to The Epoch Times.

Time for Trump to move on?

President Trump needs to find a new personal attorney, preferably someone not from New York. Trump would do well to realize that his pool of associates from New York are liabilities — not assets.

Republican advisers have been calling for Giuliani to be quiet and keep a low profile. Giuliani has decided to do the opposite and is neither quiet nor low-profile with the investigations he’s facing.

Unfortunately, President Trump still seems to hold a lot of faith in Giuliani, despite the optics. Trump is a big fan of Giuliani’s record, which is admittedly impressive. However, it’s a dangerous game to keep Giuliani around as a target for further accusations.

Republicans are acutely aware that Democrats are trying to use Trump’s proximity with Guiliani to take Trump down. While that is a strategy that shouldn’t work, the Democrats have the mainstream media on their side to spin any narrative they need. Trump should take the high road here.
