In break with 2020 Dems, Ruth Bader Ginsburg shoots down plan to add justices to Supreme Court

The 2020 Democratic presidential hopefuls are all racing each other further and further to the left. Now, they are so radical that even leftists don’t agree with them.

Ruth Bader Ginsberg, one of the most liberal justices on the Supreme Court, just shot down court-packing and dismissed the notion that additional justices should be added to the high court. Breitbart reports that Ginsburg sees the practices as clear violations of the court’s non-partisan nature.

Packing the court

Using his power as president, Donald Trump is putting constitutionalist justices on the bench.

This has angered radical leftists, who are now advocating for the expansion of the Supreme Court’s current nine-justice roster.

TIME magazine reports that a group of leftists wants to add justices to the court “to undo the court’s current 5-4 conservative majority.”

They aren’t even trying to hide it — leftists want to pack the courts.

Fighting back

This is such an unacceptable idea that even the high court’s top liberal opposes it.

Breitbart reports that Ginsburg told NPR’s Nina Totenburg that “it would make the court look partisan.”

The last time court-packing was attempted was when former President Franklin D. Roosevelt was trying to get his infamous “New Deal” passed. Subsequently, Democrats were destroyed in the midterm elections.

And while it is impossible to remove politics entirely from the court, court-packing is blatantly political.

As the Los Angeles Times reports:

If Democrats win in 2020 and launch this attack on judicial independence, a rapid descent of the court into pure politics will surely follow.

Democrat candidates who are willing to embrace a plan like this to destroy the Supreme Court should be opposed by all. SCOTUS is already too political; those who want to make it worse need to be thrown out of the race.
