Johnny Wactor, an actor best known for a stint on "General Hospital" from 2020 to 2022, was shot and killed Saturday in Los Angeles as he tried to stop thieves from stealing the catalytic converter on his car.

Wactor's mother Scarlett Wactor said that he and a colleague tried to stop three men from stealing his car's catalytic converter around 3 a.m. as he was leaving his job at a rooftop bar.

Wactor's mother said he thought the men were towing the car and tried to talk to one of them. In the confrontation, the men shot at him as they fled. Wactor was taken to the hospital after the shooting, but he was pronounced dead.

No suspects were in custody for the shooting on Sunday afternoon. Wactor was 37 at the time of his death.

“I wish I had enough love to fill the hole that his loved ones must feel right now, but I know that’s impossible. Johnny will be missed on this plane. For a long time to come.”

Nancy Lee Grahn said the shooting was “tragic, enraging & heartbreaking.”
