New details are emerging about the relationship between Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sexual predator, and Bill Gates.
As Fox Business reports, it appears that the relationship between the two billionaires began roughly a decade ago, when they attempted to hammer out a business deal involving Gates’ charity.
In July, reports emerged claiming that Gates and Epstein met up several times at Epstein’s New York City townhome in the early 2010s. Recently, a report from The New York Times indicated that Gates and Epstein had dinner together on at least one occasion in 2011.
According to the reports, Epstein was trying to make a deal with Gates through Gates’ charity, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. In exchange for raising funds for global health causes, Epstein was to receive 0.3% of whatever money he managed to bring in from his rich and powerful friends.
Gates and his lawyers, however, were not sold on the idea, and after finding inconsistencies in the deal’s paperwork, they never finalized the proposition.
Fox reports that, subsequently, “Epstein found himself uninvited from ongoing philanthropic efforts involving the wealthy and elite.” Epstein is also said to have reached out to Gates on numerous occasions, but Gates never responded.
Additionally, it was reported that Epstein delivered a parting blow to Gates by appointing a member of Gates’s inner circle, Boris Nikolic, to be a fill-in executor of his will, knowing that it could hurt Gates’ reputation by highlighting Epstein’s relationship with Gates. Nikolic did not accept those duties.
“A huge mistake”
Outlets have been digging deeper into the relationship between Gates and Epstein following Gates’ recent divorce from his wife, Melinda.
Melinda, apparently, was concerned about the relationship between the two men, considering that Epstein had already been convicted of soliciting prostitution from a minor when he and Gates met. Also, it appears that it is his relationship with Epstein that led to the Gates’ divorce, as Melinda hired divorce attorneys in 2019 when the Gates-Epstein relationship was made public.
Gates, during a television appearance this week, made a statement on the matter.
According to Breitbart, the tech billionaire said:
I had several diners with him, hoping what he said about getting billions in philanthropy for global health through contacts that he had might emerge and when it looked like that wasn’t a real thing, that relationship ended. It was a huge mistake to spend time with him, to give him the credibility of being there. There were lots of others in that same situation, but I made a mistake.
Only time will tell what journalists ultimately uncover as they dig deeper into the past relationship between Gates and Epstein.
