Hundreds attend funeral of ‘womb raider’ victim

There have been some despicable crimes reported here, but this one tops them all.

Marlen Ochoa-Lopez was brutally murdered by three strangers for the sole purpose of cutting her unborn child from her womb.

Womb Raiders

Ochoa-Lopez was lured into a stranger’s home with the promise of free clothes for her child. The accused allegedly distracted her with a photo album then strangled her to death.

They then allegedly used a knife to cut the unborn child out of her stomach. The killers then took the baby to a local hospital, claiming they gave birth in their home.

Shockingly, the Illinois hospital did not test the baby or the alleged parent at the time to verify this even though the woman gave no physical indication that she had just given birth.

The only reason the murderers were caught was that the Police were alerted to a Facebook contact on Ochoa-Lopez’s page.

Finding the Killers

The alleged killers, Clarisa Figueroa, Desiree (her daughter), and Piotr Bobak (her boyfriend), are all now in custody. They may have gotten away with the crime were it not for Clarisa and Marlen connecting on Facebook.

Clarisa must have seen the pregnant pictures of Marlen and made her the target. She apparently offered Marlen free baby clothing, then killed Marlen when she came to her house to collect the clothing.

Police were notified of the interaction between these two, which is how they located the killers. Due to this connection, police requested a DNA test of the child to compare to the alleged parents.

When the test came back negative, police took Clarisa as well as her daughter and boyfriend into custody. While the killers have been found, it provides little solace to the family of Ochoa-Lopez.

Her funeral looked more like a state funeral than a local girl, as hundreds of people showed up to pay their respects.

The only solace in the midst of this tragedy is the fact that the child, who is currently in intensive care, has his father and the rest of Marlen’s family to care for him when he recovers.
