Fox News suspends former Trump campaign official after controversial comments

Fox News has dropped the hammer on a former Trump campaign official.

David Bossie, who served as Trump’s Deputy Campaign Manager, has been suspended for a racially insensitive comment.

The Exchange

While appearing on Fox News with Ed Henry and Joel Payne, a debate ensued regarding Trump being a racist.

After Payne made a comment, Bossie told him he was out of his “cotton-picking mind.”

Now, that is a turn of phrase that has been around, but the use of it here, especially considering the topic, was offensive.

Ed Henry himself immediately apologized for the comment, then called it offensive.

Payne immediately took issue with the phrase, citing he had relatives that were actually forced to pick cotton.

He told Bassio, “And I’m not going to sit here and allow you to attack me like that on TV.”

He further stated, “Unfortunately, that’s just par for the course and with this president and with the people who surround him.”

The Apology

Bassio immediately regretted using the phrase.

Not long after the segment ended, Bassio issued a public apology via Twitter…

Times being what they are, though, the apology was not enough, and Fox News has officially suspended Bassio as a contributor for two weeks.

The Hypocrisy

Conceding the point Bassio’s comments were inappropriate, conservatives want to know why the scales of justice are a bit tilted here.

During the Puerto Rico crisis, Michael Che of Saturday Night Live called Trump a “cracker” in a scripted SNL Update…

Not only was nothing ever done to Che, but he actually got to do a round of late-night TV interviews, literally being patted on the back by the liberal hosts.

These issues will NEVER be resolved in this country as long as we continue to see this bias.

Not for a minute do we believe Bassio is a racist, but he made a mistake and is paying for it.

We are only asking for the same standard to be held on both sides of this issue.
