The mainstream media spent years amplifying or otherwise highlighting gossipy reports and rumors about former first lady Melania Trump.
A recent example involves reports about a tell-all book soon to be released by Trump’s former top aide, Stephanie Grisham.
Grisham teases drama behind the scenes
According to the Washington Examiner, Grisham’s account paints the former first lady in a particularly unflattering light.
In her book, the author is said to have gone so far as to compare her former boss to the “doomed” French queen Marie Antoinette, referring to Trump as “dismissive, defeated, and detached” with regard to November’s election and the Jan. 6 riot on Capitol Hill.
Politico offered a “scoop” on Monday with details from I’ll Take Your Questions Now: What I Saw in the Trump White House, which is set to be released in October.
Grisham joined Donald Trump’s presidential campaign in 2015 and went on to serve in the White House — including as the first lady’s top aide. She had been considered among the more loyal members of the administration until she resigned in the aftermath of the January riot.
According to Grisham, she asked the first lady that day if she wanted to issue a tweet supporting “peaceful protests” while condemning “lawlessness and violence,” receive a simple “no” in response.
“It is an attempt to redeem herself”
Grisham interpreted the reply as an implicit show of support for her husband’s claims that the 2020 election results were rigged against him.
Teasing even juicier details, Grisham has reportedly bragged about knowing “secrets about Trump that even the first lady doesn’t know” and promising that they “will be in this book.”
For her part, Melania Trump reacted to the news with a statement from her office.
“It is an attempt to redeem herself after a poor performance as press secretary, failed personal relationships, and unprofessional behavior in the White House,” the statement said of Grisham. “Through mistruth and betrayal, she seeks to gain relevance and money at the expense of Mrs. Trump.”
The former first lady’s office provided a similar response to news in July that another supposed tell-all book promised gossip related to Melania Trump.
