New details have come to light about the sexual assault accusations against former CNN personality Chris Cuomo, the New York Times reports. 

It was these accusations that, in part, led to Cuomo being suspended and then fired from CNN. Specifics about the accusations, however, have been hard to come by, at least until now.

“Jane Doe”

The New York Times, in its new report, describes the allegations that have been made against Cuomo by a woman who is only being identified as “Jane Doe.” This woman is currently being represented in the matter by the well-known attorney Debra Katz.

The incident, according to the Times, goes back to 2011 when Cuomo and the woman were both working at ABC News. At one point, Cuomo invited the woman, who at the time was a temporary employee, to have lunch in his office to offer her career advice.

The woman alleges that, during that meetup, Cuomo tried to talk her into having sex with him before going on to assault her. And, this wasn’t the end of the matter.

Several years later, after years of not speaking with the woman, Cuomo allegedly decided to contact her and to offer to run a segment on CNN praising her employer.

The woman believes that Cuomo did this to try to discourage her from publicly revealing what Cuomo did in 2011.

Shelley Ross

Another one of Cuomo’s accusers is television producer Shelley Ross. She made her allegations in a guest essay that she wrote for the New York Times back in September.

In that essay, Ross, who at one point was Cuomo’s boss, describes an encounter that she had with Cuomo in 2005.

She wrote:

When Mr. Cuomo entered the Upper West Side bar, he walked toward me and greeted me with a strong bear hug while lowering one hand to firmly grab and squeeze the cheek of my buttock. “I can do this now that you’re no longer my boss,” he said to me with a kind of cocky arrogance. “No you can’t,” I said, pushing him off me at the chest while stepping back, revealing my husband, who had seen the entire episode at close range.

Ross says that Cuomo did try to apologize in an email that he sent her after the incident.

Cuomo, thus far, has denied all of the sexual assault allegations that have been made against him.
