The Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson just revealed the real reason why President Joe Biden is pushing for more gun control, and it has nothing to do with protecting Americans.
Rather, according to Carlson, Biden’s push for gun control has everything to do with disarming people who do not share Biden and the Democrats’ political agenda.
Background
Biden made his gun control push during a primetime speech that he gave on Thursday. The push followed the recent Texas school shooting.
Biden, during his speech, made four gun control proposals: banning “assault weapons,” strengthening background checks, enacting federal “red flag” laws, and repealing liability protections for gun manufacturers.
“This isn’t about taking away anyone’s rights,” Biden claimed. “It’s about protecting children. It’s about protecting families. It’s about protecting whole communities. It’s about protecting our freedoms to go to school, to a grocery store, to a church without being shot and killed.”
The truth
It was following this speech that Carlson called Biden out.
“So to summarize the President’s remarks tonight, your constitutional rights are not absolute but in taking them away, we’re not actually taking away your rights we’re protecting children to which you might ask, am I a threat to children?” Carlson asked, noting, “that question is never answered by the President.”
Carlson then argued, “the point of this, of course, is to disarm people who did not vote for Joe Biden, and that is why simultaneous with this, this effort to recategorize the guns in your closet as felonies, Democrats have been failing to prosecute gun crimes in our cities where most of the crime is.”
It is at this point that Carlson bolstered his argument by exposing Biden as a hypocrite.
What about Hunter?
Carlson brought up the fact that Hunter Biden, the president’s son, has been accused of violating gun laws. In case you are not familiar with the allegations, here is a summary of them from Breitbart News:
Hunter Biden appears to have lied on paperwork he filled out when purchasing a handgun in 2018 by failing to disclose his problems with drugs. His sister-in-law, with whom he had an affair, allegedly took his gun, wrapped it in a shopping bag and threw it away. According to Hunter Biden’s own text messages, the Secret Service, the FBI, and state investigators apparently became involved — but he was never prosecuted and the matter seems to have disappeared.
Carlson, accordingly, told viewers, “if you’re at all confused about whether the effort here is selective, if this is enforcement only of certain people, you’ll notice the President never mentioned the apparent federal gun felony his own son committed when he lied on a federal background form when he bought a handgun.”
“Biden’s fellow Democrats and the House of Representatives spent the day debating ways to disarm you, Americans who have committed no crime at all and want only to protect themselves and their families,” Carlson argued.
