‘Fit for duty’: White House physician releases Biden’s annual checkup results

While it will likely come as a surprise to anyone who’s watched President Joe Biden attempt to do his job for the past 10 months, the 78-year-old president is reportedly healthy enough to continue on, according to the results of a recent annual checkup.

According to the Washington Examiner, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, the current White House physician, revealed on Friday that Biden appears to be in good health, saying the elderly president remains “fit for duty,” despite having a persistent — and noticeable — cough.

“The President remains fit for duty, and fully executes all of his responsibilities without any exemptions or accommodations,” Dr. O’Connor’s statement read.

“Biden weighed in at 184 pounds, and his height came in at 5 feet, 11.65 inches. His vital signs proved fairly virile for a 78-year-old,” the Examiner noted.

“Detailed investigation”

While the doctor gave the president a clean bill of health, generally speaking, somewhat shockingly, he added that he made two specific observations that he said will require “detailed investigation.”

One of those observations included Biden’s persistent clearing of his throat while speaking, with O’Connor noting, “The President has experienced increasing frequency and severity of ‘throat clearing’ and coughing during speaking engagements.”

The White House physician went on to say that Biden has had that condition for as long as he has been his patient, which reaches back to the days of his vice presidency. But O’Connor admitted that Biden’s throat and cough episodes “seem to be more frequent and more pronounced over the last few months.”

Also surprisingly, Dr. O’Connor brought up the president’s “perceptibly stiffer and less fluid gait,” which has also been observed by members of the media in recent months.

“Moderate to severe spondylosis was demonstrated at multiple levels, but did not result in nerve root compression significant enough that they would warrant any specific treatment,” O’Connor said, saying the condition is a result of numerous “orthopedic and sports related injuries over the years.”

Biden not “cognitively fit”

Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX), a former White House physician who served multiple presidents, has long been at the forefront of calling on Biden to undergo the same cognitive tests that his predecessors took, noting that the current president’s growing lists of gaffes and awkward moments are clear signs of age-related cognitive decline.

Many are of the belief that having someone with that condition leading the country poses nothing less than a serious national security concern. “Given the precedent set and Biden’s clear mental impairment, I believe it is past time he undergo a cognitive test,” Jackson said earlier this year, according to Fox News.

Jackson, and a long list of Republican lawmakers, sent a letter earlier this year to the president in which they strongly urged him to undergo the same cognitive tests that former President Donald Trump underwent, in which he nailed a perfect score of 30 out of 30 questions correctly answered.
