Federal Judge Terry A. Doughty issued a temporary injunction on Tuesday barring the Biden administration from contacting social media companies.

The injunction was issued because of a case brought by Missouri and Louisiana concerning collusion between social media companies and the federal government to censor discussion on the pandemic and elections on social media.

The plaintiffs allege that the Biden administration circumvented 1st Amendment restrictions by colluding with private companies to censor speech and discussion.

There is also strong evidence that such collusion may have influenced the outcome of the 2020 presidential election as well as the 2022 midterm elections.

Crushing free speech

Democrats have been working with social media companies like Meta and Google in order to control public discourse and suppress discussion on things that could damage Democrats politically.

The Washington Post reported, "The injunction came in response to a lawsuit brought by Republican attorneys general in Louisiana and Missouri, who allege that government officials went too far in their efforts to encourage social media companies to address posts that they worried could contribute to vaccine hesitancy during the pandemic or upend elections. The Trump-appointed judge’s move could upend years of efforts to enhance coordination between the government and social media companies."

Even the Washington Post is openly admitting that there is coordination between the federal government and social media companies.

This leaves no doubt that the federal government is using Big Tech to circumvent the 1st amendment and stifle political speech.

The relationship between the government and Big Tech led to the suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story which may have changed the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.

During a hearing on the issue with several Twitter employees, Representative James Comer (R-KY) stated, "Mr. Roth, Ms. Gadde, and Mr. Baker, it appears to me that you failed at your jobs. You were entrusted with the highest level of power at Twitter, but when you were faced with a New York Post story, instead of allowing people to judge the information for themselves, you rushed to find a reason why the American people shouldn’t see it. In a matter of hours, you were deciding on the truth of a story that spans years and dozens of complex international transactions. You did this because you were terrified of Joe Biden not winning the election in 2020, that’s what it appeared. I can assure you this committee will succeed in holding the Biden’s accountable.”

This ruling by Judge Doughty is the first step in destroying the relationship between the Federal government and Big Tech.

Massive implications

The White House issued a statement in response to the ruling saying, "This Administration has promoted responsible actions to protect public health, safety, and security when confronted by challenges like a deadly pandemic and foreign attacks on our elections. Our consistent view remains that social media platforms have a critical responsibility to take account of the effects their platforms are having on the American people, but make independent choices about the information they present."

The White House claims they want social media platforms to make independent choices but that can't happen when they are colluding with the federal government.

The unholy marriage of Big Tech and government has led to the greatest violation of the 1st Amendment in American history. Hopefully, this decision is just the beginning of a movement that will protect the 1st Amendment.
