Special Counsel John Durham has finally released his long-awaited investigative report into the origins of the bogus Trump-Russia collusion narrative, which became known within the FBI as "Crossfire Hurricane," and that report was damning, to say the least.

In response to the report's release, the FBI issued a statement that acknowledged that "missteps" had been made and that "corrective actions" had already been taken, the Conservative Brief reported.

That is quite an understatement with regard to Durham's report, which essentially determined that there was never any legitimate basis for the FBI's investigation of former President Donald Trump as well as that the bureau was well aware from the start that the entire hoax had been purposefully started by Hillary Clinton's 2016 campaign.

FBI releases a statement

"The conduct in 2016 and 2017 that Special Counsel Durham examined was the reason that current FBI leadership already implemented dozens of corrective actions, which have now been in place for some time," the FBI said in its statement.

"Had those reforms been in place in 2016, the missteps identified in the report could have been prevented," the statement continued.

The Bureau added, "This report reinforces the importance of ensuring the FBI continues to do its work with the rigor, objectivity, and professionalism the American people deserve and rightly expect."

FBI and White House knew Clinton was behind anti-Trump allegations

The Daily Caller reported that Special Counsel Durham thoroughly exposed the entirety of the FBI and DOJ's clearly partisan probe of then-candidate Trump in 2016 based on a plan crafted by the Clinton campaign to deliberately distract the American public from her own scandalous use of a private email server to conduct official government business.

What became known within the Obama White House as the "Clinton plan" was a "proposal from one of her foreign policy advisors to vilify Donald Trump by stirring up a scandal claiming interference by Russian security services" that had a specific goal of "tying him to Putin and the Russians’ hacking of the Democratic National Committee."

That plan was seized upon by then-CIA Director John Brennan, who delivered a brief about it to senior White House officials, including then-President Barack Obama and then-Vice President Joe Biden, among others, and further urged the FBI to pursue the matter -- even as it was immediately known that the allegations were false.

That "plan" was part and parcel with the so-called "Steele dossier" that was full of "uncorroborated intelligence" and false allegations about Trump that the FBI relied upon even as senior officials were aware that it had been circuitously paid for by the Clinton campaign and the DNC through an allied law firm, Perkins Coie.

FBI never had any basis for anti-Trump investigation

In his 316-page report, Durham wrote, "Our investigation determined that the Crossfire Hurricane investigators did not and could not corroborate any of the substantive allegations contained in the Steele reporting."

He pointed out that the FBI "failed to uphold their mission of strict fidelity to the law" and pursued the bogus allegations against Trump despite the fact that "the Director of the FBI and others learned of significant and potentially contrary intelligence" at the outset of the probe.

Durham ultimately concluded that "neither U.S. nor the Intelligence Community appears to have possessed any actual evidence of collusion in their holdings at the commencement" of the anti-Trump probe on the thinnest of paid-for partisan pretexts.

The Daily Caller noted that Durham also lambasted the FBI for its gross abuse of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act in order to spy on Trump's campaign and highlighted the overtly "disparate treatment" the Bureau gave to Clinton, who was treated with kid gloves despite obvious evidence of wrongdoing, and Trump, who was essentially framed for alleged crimes he didn't commit.
