The FBI has arrested a woman who, during the January 6th riot at the U.S. Capitol building, allegedly claimed to be looking to “shoot” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).
Dawn Bancroft of Pennsylvania is now behind bars facing two charges: unlawfully entering the Capitol building and engaging in violent or disorderly conduct. The FBI has also arrested a Diana Santos-Smith, who appears to have accompanied Bancroft, on the same charges.
This information comes by way of the court documents filed by the FBI.
The FBI states that it was tipped off to a selfie-style video allegedly filmed by Bancroft of her and Santos-Smith’s involvement in the January 6th U.S. Capitol building riot. The video is said to specifically show Bancroft and Santos-Smith among a group of other rioters as they were all attempting to exit the Capitol building.
In the affidavit, the FBI called attention to two statements that Bancroft allegedly made in the video.
“During the video, BANCROFT stated, ‘We broke into the Capitol…we got inside, we did our part,'” the FBI affidavit reads.
The affidavit then claims that Bancroft said, “We were looking for Nancy to shoot her in the friggin’ brain but we didn’t find her.” The FBI obviously believes that Bancroft was referring to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
The FBI affidavit includes a screenshot of Bancroft’s video. The screenshot shows Bancroft and Santos-Smith wearing “Make America Great Again” hats and other patriotic attire.
According to the FBI affidavit, both women admitted to their involvement in the U.S. Capitol building riot. They both detailed how they got in and how they stayed for about thirty seconds before exiting. The FBI said it obtained CCTV footage of Bancroft and Santos-Smith entering the building through a broken window.
One thing that we do not know is whether Bancroft and Santos-Smith were armed. The FBI affidavit does not indicate whether they were or not.
Other incidents involving Pelosi
The Daily Caller reports that Pelosi “was one of the main targets of protesters and rioters who descended on the Capitol.”
In addition to Bancroft and Santos-Smith, several other individuals have been arrested who appear to have targeted Pelosi on January 6th. This includes Richard Barnett, the man who was photographed sitting at Pelosi’s desk, and Adam Johnson, the man who was photographed carrying Pelosi’s lectern.
