Report: Woman faces attempted murder charges after throwing explosive at police

New York City has seen widespread rioting over the last several days, but we are finally starting to see some justice handed out.

The New York Post reports that 27-year-old Samantha Shader has been arrested and charged with the attempted murder of four NYPD officers for her actions during a protest Saturday over the death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man who died Monday after a Minneapolis police officer, who was white, kneeled on his neck for more than eight minutes, according to USA Today

Attempted murder charges filed

The officer seen in viral videos kneeling on Floyd’s neck has since been charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter, according to USA Today — but that didn’t matter to Shader. The 27-year-old allegedly threw a Molotov cocktail into an occupied but unmarked police van in Brooklyn, according to the New York Post.

Luckily, her device did not ignite and all of the officers in the van were able to escape without injury.

Her attempted terrorist-like attack against the police did not end there, though; she also allegedly bit an officer in his leg as she was being taken into custody.

Shader now faces four counts of attempted murder of a police officer, as well as charges of attempted arson, assault on a police officer, reckless endangerment, and criminal possession of a weapon.

Her sister, Darian, who is 21, was also arrested and charged with resisting arrest and obstruction of governmental administration, the Post reported.

“We will NEVER tolerate this”

Needless to say, representatives of the NYPD are livid, and they want those threatening the lives of law enforcement to be held accountable.

“We will NEVER tolerate this – EVER!” said Detectives Endowment Association chief Paul DiGiacomo, according to the New York Post. “In other incidents, cops were hit with bricks, brass knuckles, and bottles,” he explained.

DiGiacomo further promised that “in addition to ensuring the strongest possible criminal charges are filed against these vicious criminals, we will be bringing civil actions against any person who harms a detective,” the Post reported.

Indeed, what reportedly started as peaceful protests have clearly turned into violent riots across the country. Thankfully, President Donald Trump has been willing to step in to help local governments fight back against the destruction.
