An interesting and bizarre twist in former President Donald Trump's "hush money" trial came out of nowhere this week.
According to the Daily Mail, Judge Juan Merchan warned both the prosecution and the defense of an interesting comment made on the New York Unified Court System's Facebook page just one day before the verdict was read in the trial.
The comment indicated that the person was related to one of the jurors and confirmed that Trump would be found guilty the next day. And he was.
Clearly, the comment raises serious questions as to whether or not a jury member spoke about the case and the deliberations to a family member.
The mysterious comment on the Facebook page, written by a person called Michael Anderson, ganered immediate attention given the timing and what he said.
"My cousin is a juror and says Trump is getting convicted [heart emoji] Thank you folks for all your had work!!!!" Anderson wrote.
🚨 Justice Merchan has informed the parties in Trump's NY criminal case that this comment was left on the NY Courts Facebook page before the verdict:
“My cousin is a juror and says Trump is getting convicted & Thank you folks for all your hard work!!!.”
Expect a mistral motion. pic.twitter.com/HoyJbNOfzv

While some wrote off the comment as nothing serious, others correctly pointed out that the comment was obviously serious enough to spark Judge Merchan into informing both parties of it.
Many said that as a result of the comment, a mistrial motion is imminent.
The Daily Mail noted:
It is not clear that the Facebook user who posted was related to any juror or had any prior knowledge of the verdict. It could also have been a random Facebook user looking to stir controversy or confusion.
The profile for Anderson claims to be a 'professional s**t poster' - another name for an internet troll.
Given what the comment could mean for the outcome of the trial, social media users had plenty of opinions regarding what should happen next.
"We all knew a decision was already before the trial even began. Rigged," one X user wrote.
Another X user wrote, "Merchan is corrupt. He got the verdict he wanted and will never let it go."
Only time will tell if the comment generates a mistrial motion.
