‘Farewell to an exceptional actress’: Fans, public figures mourn death of Broselianda Hernandez Boudet

Cuban actress Broselianda Hernandez Boudet had died at the age of 56, according to reports.

Early updates provide few details regarding the nature of her death. According to Fox News, Miami Beach Police spokesperson Ernesto Rodriguez issued a brief statement indicating that a witness found a woman’s body near the shoreline.

A body of work

During her decades-long career in entertainment, Hernandez Boudet saw success in Cuba and beyond. Rising to prominence in the 1990s, she became known for her roles in television, film, and live theater.

Among her most notable roles were those on the soap operas When Water Returns to Land and Women of Honor. Hernandez Boudet also starred in such films as Habanera and Things I Left in Havana, according to the New York Post.

The circumstances surrounding her death remain a mystery, but police and firefighters reportedly arrived on the scene to find the body and later identify the deceased as the prominent actress.

Life in the U.S.

After working in Cuba for much of her career, Hernandez Boudet moved to Miami about five years ago and has lived there ever since.

In addition to expressions of grief and support from friends and fans, some relatives spoke to a local news outlet. They indicated she left her home on Tuesday to purchase some cigarettes and was not seen alive after that.

Rodriguez signaled that there were no apparent signs of foul play, which could suggest that authorities are not investigating her death as a crime. That assumption, however, has not yet been confirmed by the police agency.

“We mourn her early loss”

As of the latest updates available, the local medical examiner’s office had not issued a determination of the cause of Hernandez Boudet’s death. That information is likely to direct the path of any further investigation.

For now, it appears that local police are operating under the assumption that Hernandez Boudet drowned.

Among the many admirers who expressed their thoughts in the wake of the tragic news was Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel.

He tweeted: “Farewell to an exceptional actress named Broselianda. We mourn her early loss. Our condolences to her family and friends.”
