Nobody is safe from cancel culture these days, a lesson television star Ellen DeGeneres is learning the hard way.
Following multiple recent negative reports about the show, the Daily Mail reports that insiders are now saying DeGeneres is considering quitting her hit daytime TV talk show.
Time to quit?
An insider told the Mail, “She feels she can’t go on and the only way to recover her personal brand from this is to shut down the show. The truth is she knew what was going on — it’s her show. The buck stops with her.
“She can blame every executive under the sun — but Ellen is ultimately the one to blame,” they added.
Ellen DeGeneres’ eponymous show has been rocked by allegations of a toxic work culture over the past weeks.
This week, even more allegations surfaced, claiming just about every type of workplace abuse you can imagine, including sexual harassment. The show’s parent company announced an investigation into the claims.
Ellen made a public apology earlier in the week, but some former employees are not buying it.
One staff member told the Daily Mail, “Don’t think for a minute anything she has said in that apology means anything. She created and then enabled this toxic culture to go on for so long.”
“If anyone had come to her or those three vile EPs [executive producers] to complain, they would’ve been fired,” the staffer added.
Ellen has proclaimed that she knew nothing about these allegations until after they were made, but one source from Telepictures disputed that claim.
“The behavior of her show executives has been appalling, but [Ellen] is no better,” the source told the Mail. “In fact, she is the worst. It’s outrageous that she is trying to pretend that this is all a shock to her. The fish rots from the head, and Ellen is the head.”
Ellen has not, however, made any statements to confirm these rumors. A close source told the New York Post, “This is untrue. She has no plans to end her talk show.”
