Actor Eddie Hassell shot dead in Texas

Actor Eddie Hassell was shot dead early on Sunday morning, local Dallas, Texas, station KDFW reported. He was 30 years old.

All of the details about the shooting have yet to be released as the incident is still under investigation.

What we do know

The incident took place in Grand Prairie, Texas, a suburb of Dallas, near the 3000 black of West Bardin Road.

Officers received a report of a shooting around 2 a.m, according to KDFW. They arrived on the scene to find a young man who had been shot in the abdomen multiple times but was still alive. According to a report from The New York Times, Hassell was shot outside his girlfriend’s apartment.

Hassell was taken to a local hospital where he was eventually pronounced dead.

What led to the shooting is unclear, although some reports suggest it could have been a carjacking. “The motive is still under investigation but detectives can confirm a car was taken from the scene and later recovered,” the Grand Prairie Police Department said in a statement, according to CBS.

An investigation is underway, but it appears police may be short on leads. They have set up a hot line and are offering a $2,500 reward for relevant information.
