Dr. Fauci to speak at The Atlantic Festival, along with Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Black Lives Matter co-founder Alicia Garza

Dr. Anthony Fauci, a key advisor on the Trump administration’s coronavirus task force, has been accused of letting politics get into the way of his comments about COVID-19 over the last few months.

So, the last thing he should be doing is speaking at an event packed with Democrats who will be bashing President Donald Trump, but that is exactly what Fauci is going to be doing.

Even so, Fauci has decided that it would be a good idea to accept an invitation to speak at The Atlantic Festival this year, which invites attendees to “join us as we examine the magnitude of the events of 2020, who we are as a nation, and what we might become.”

The free event kicks off on Monday and runs through September 24.

Alongside Fauci, this year’s event stars failed Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, failed Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, and Marxist organizer Alicia Garza, who co-founded Black Lives Matter. Comedian and Trump critic Samantha Bee will also be featured.

Along with numerous Atlantic contributors, writers, and editors, multiple Democrat politicians are also speaking at the event, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Reps. Veronica Escobar (D-TX) and Terri Sewell (D-AL), and San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin.

It is a fairly safe assumption that they and many others on the guest list will be slamming Trump and his administration, as well as the pandemic response.

So, what exactly is Fauci thinking by accepting this invitation?

One of two ways…

This is going to play out one of two ways for Fauci. There is a small chance he will fact-check all the blatantly false claims that are likely to be made about the Trump administration.

The second option, however, is more likely. He may pile on over his own frustrations over when his advice was not taken as gospel.

As part of that, we can assume many of the questions he is going to get will be set up in a way to make Trump look bad, such as, “Could we have done XYZ earlier?” They will give Fauci dream scenarios, and he will more than likely oblige them by agreeing rather than saying it was simply not possible.

The good news is that only liberals who have probably already made up their minds will be paying attention.
