A local conservative media personality died this week in what appears to be a freak accident.
Conservative talk show host Doc Thompson was struck and killed by a commuter train while jogging on Tuesday afternoon.
Thompson, 50, was apparently jogging alongside the train tracks in Haltom City, Texas, when he was struck by an Amtrak train at about 3:45 p.m., according to witnesses.
The police reportedly found wireless earbuds at the scene but it is not known whether he was wearing them.
There were no reported injuries on the train.
Favorite Among Conservatives
Thompson was a favorite host due to his unique political perspective.
His conservative libertarian philosophy hit home with many listeners in the area.
Thompson formerly worked for Glenn Beck’s conservative media site The Blaze prior to signing on with MoJo 5.0.
After Thompson’s shocking death, Beck stated, “He loved new businesses and because of Doc, many businesses are flourishing because he would take them under his wings.”
While his colleagues mourned his loss, so did a significant amount of the local community…

Doc was a mentor to numerous business owners in the community. Reading through the tributes to him, it was quite apparent he did everything he could to help people in the community succeed.
Thompson is survived by his wife and three children. Thompson’s co-workers started a GoFundMe page to help the family pay for his funeral. The page hit and surpassed its $20,000 goal by more than 50 percent in just over three hours.
