The Disney family lost one of its most popular young stars this week.
Cameron Boyce, 20, who most recently played as Carlos de Vil in Disney’s Descendants, suddenly passed away at his home on Saturday.
Tragic Death
The actual cause of his death is unknown at this time. What we do know, however, is that Boyce had been suffering some medical issues for some time.
A statement was made on Saturday night that the seizure he suffered was from “an ongoing medical condition.”
“It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report that this morning we lost Cameron,” a family spokesperson said.
The spokesperson added: “He passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated.”
Just prior to his death, Boyce had posted a black and white photo of himself on Instagram.
Child to Adult Star
Even at the age of 20, Boyce still had a very young look, which has enabled him to continue to portray characters that made him so popular with Disney fans.
Boyce’s first breakthrough role was at the age of nine when he played opposite Kiefer Sutherland in the horror movie Mirrors.
Not long after that role, he played one of Adam Sandler’s spoiled children in Grown Ups.
While his star was clearly rising, it was the roles he played for Disney that really made Boyce a star. The show Jessie, as well as his role of Luke Ross, made him a true favorite of Disney fans.
Rest in peace, Cameron. You were taken far too young.
