Director Oliver Stone just said that his decision to vote for President Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election was "a mistake."
There is little doubt that there are now many Americans who would agree with Stone on this one.
Stone - an Oscar-winning director known for having directed such movies as Born on the Fourth of July, Platoon, and JFK - made the admission during a recent appearance on Russell Brand's Rumble program Stay Free.
Stone appeared on the podcast to discuss his 2022 documentary Nuclear Now, which argued for the use of nuclear power to combat climate change. But, Stone, during his appearance, also spoke about other things, including Biden.
One of the big subjects that Stone and Brand touched upon is foreign affairs - specifically the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
Stone said:
This is a potential World War III. This is the same situation as World War I, in a sense. The stupidity of it because of the alliances and the fears and the built-up phobias . . . We’re taking Russia to the edge now. We are really going to the edge. This is crazy - what’s going on - and nuts; it’s suicidal. We are gonna hurt ourselves in a big way.
It is here that Stone admitted that his decision to vote for Biden in 2020 was "a mistake"
"If we don’t stop this - what Biden is doing, this guy is – I voted for him – I made a mistake," Stone said.
He added:
I was thinking he was an old man now, that he would calm down, that he would be more mellow, and so forth. I didn’t see that at all. I see a man who maybe is not in charge of his own administration. Who knows? But it seems that he’s dragging us stupidly into a confrontation with a power that’s not going to give.
Stone is right on both accounts: voting for Biden in 2020 was a mistake and Biden's handling of the Russia-Ukraine conflict could have devastating consequences.
More and more people appear to be realizing these things. But, the narrative, by and large, is still being controlled by the pro-Biden, pro-Ukraine mainstream media.
Stone, during the interview, noted that the origins of the Russia-Ukraine war are far more complex than the mainstream media would have viewers believe - which is that the war simply stems from Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Stone, for the true origins of the war, pointed to the United States' role in the 2014 ousting of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, the expansion of NATO, a conflating by the Biden administration of the Russian Federation with the Soviet Union, and more.
It is a complicated situation, no doubt. And, it is one of the reasons why a competent leader needs to be restored to the White House in 2024.
