DeSantis slams Biden admin over secret night-flights of migrants into Florida

Not many Republicans have been tougher on President Joe Biden and his administration than Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

According to Fox News, that was evidenced once again during his latest interview with Fox’s Laura Ingraham, during which he spoke about the seemingly secret night-time flights of illegal migrants being moved to his state, which DeSantis described as a “human smuggling operation.”

The Florida governor explained to viewers that while the immigration crisis at the southern U.S. border is typically thought to only affect states like Texas and Arizona, Florida is also in the mix, as the Biden administration has flown over 70 planes full of migrants into Jacksonville in the middle of the night with little to no explanation.

Biden “dumping” migrants

With the sheer amount of migrants detained at the border, and with border detention facilities overcrowded, it’s not surprising that the the Biden administration is continually scrambling to find other placements for them.

DeSantis claims that within the last six months, an untold number of those migrants have been flown into his state in the “wee hours of the morning.”

“So, the border is obviously a disaster and some people say, ‘Well, that’s a problem for Texas or Arizona.’ Well, actually, the Biden administration puts people on planes and flies them into Florida in the wee hours of the morning,” the governor said.

He continued: “They’ve done over 70 flights in the last six months, dump people here. And we had—a few weeks ago—one of those people that Biden dumped, ended up committing a murder in northeast Florida.”

“So, these are crimes that would not have happened but for Biden’s recklessness,” DeSantis added.

The details

As Fox News reported last month, Larry Keefe, DeSantis’s public safety czar, described just how bad the situation has become for the state.

“Over 70 air charter flights [on] jetliner airliners coming from the southwest border have landed at Jacksonville International Airport,” Keefe explained. “On average, there’s 36 passengers on each of these flights. And that has been going on over the course of the summer through September.”

According to the Washington Examiner, the situation is even more concerning and bizarre, as Keefe revealed that the Biden administration has remained completely silent on who facilitates the flights.

“We’re in a sad situation of trying to run an investigation. Who is facilitating this travel? How are they getting here? Who are the support people? Who are the sponsors?” Keefe said.
