The attacks against President Donald Trump continue apace, as Democrats are now hoping to drive a wedge right between our president and the first lady.
The House Judiciary Committee has reportedly filed to launch a new probe into the so-called hush money payments to Trump’s alleged mistresses just prior to the 2016 election.
Opening the Wound
These payments have been thoroughly investigated already, with no charges being filed. One of Trump’s staunchest enemies in the New York District Attorney’s office even refused to indict Trump on these matters.
Now, though, Democrats are opening up the wound that clearly divided our president and first lady when the allegations first came to light.
As you may recall, when these rumors first started to surface, the first lady withdrew from the public eye and became very short with her answers on the occasions the press was able to corner her.
If she is forced to relive these allegations again, it will surely create some problems at home for President Trump.
Pushing Obstruction of Justice
Democrats continue to focus on a statement that was made by Robert Mueller then later walked back. That does not matter to Democrats, though, as Rep. Jerry Nadler had the audacity to refer to that statement even after Mueller had corrected himself.
Democrats insist that if Trump were not president, he would have been indicted on at least six counts of obstruction, including charges from these hush money payments.
What is sad is that Democrats know they cannot win this case because as we said, it has already been investigated and dismissed. The real purpose of this is to create negative headlines for Trump to further hurt his chances of being re-elected in 2020.
This is mudslinging to a degree we have never seen before in American politics.
Democrats simply cannot get over the fact they lost the 2016 election to an outsider and will not stop these attacks until they can get him removed from office.
The sad thing here, though, is that the American people are losing out. Trump is one of the first presidents in a long time who has been willing to sit down with both sides to broker a deal, and Democrats have done nothing but slap his hand away again and again.
