Democratic Party leaders across the nation have fully embraced strict mandates related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic while denouncing moves by GOP counterparts interested in rolling back many, if not all, of those safety precautions.
As one notable recent example, U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) stridently warned of deadly consequences she believes await those in her state who choose not to wear a face mask in public.
“Do not have a remove mask party”
According to Breitbart, the Democrat’s cautionary rhetoric came shortly after the state officially ended its mask mandate amid a decreasing infection rate in Texas.
Lee was speaking from the House floor and dutifully wearing a face mask when she spoke of the “destiny of death” that she predicted bare-faced Texans would inevitably face.
“Do not have a remove mask party tonight, because you will be walking into a destiny of death,” the lawmaker asserted.

Her remarks on Wednesday came on the date set by Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott as the end of both the statewide mask mandate as well as other restrictions imposed on businesses since shortly after the pandemic began last year.
“COVID-19 has not disappeared”
For his part, Abbott declared earlier this month that the “medical advancements of vaccines and antibody therapeutic drugs” have made the draconian measures unnecessary.
“We must now do more to restore livelihoods and normalcy for Texans by opening Texas 100%,” Abbott said at the time. “Make no mistake, COVID-19 has not disappeared, but it is clear from the recoveries, vaccinations, reduced hospitalizations, and safe practices that Texans are using that state mandates are no longer needed.”
He went on to advise Texans to continue following health and safety recommendations, adding: “With this executive order, we are ensuring that all businesses and families in Texas have the freedom to determine their own destiny.”
It seems clear that Lee’s remarks this week were a clear response to Abbott’s statement, but she was not the only prominent Democrat to oppose his move and similar orders in other Republican-led states. President Joe Biden blasted the governors of Texas and Mississippi for “Neanderthal thinking” on the matter.
For all of their admonitions, however, Democrats seem not to acknowledge that some GOP-led states are faring better than more strictly regulated states when it comes to COVID-19 infection rates.
