Dem governor busts Biden administration’s COVID mask narrative

While the Biden administration and congressional Democrats relentlessly attempt to fearmonger Americans into believing the COVID-19 pandemic is just as serious as it was in 2020, at least one high-profile Democrat is finally taking a stand and saying otherwise.

According to Breitbart, during a recent radio interview, Gov. Jared Polis (D) of Colorado admitted that the pandemic “emergency is over,” and insisted that government officials are no longer allowed to tell free citizens “what to wear,” of course, referring to mask mandates.

Polis’ admission flies directly in the face of the narrative still being pushed by the White House, and comes at a time when Democrats are presumably reconsidering their stance on the situation, given that recent polls clearly show that Americans are likely to take out their frustrations with Democrats in the 2022 midterms.

The Colorado governor also made the admission that Americans who want the COVID-19 vaccination have already received it, and he added that for the unvaccinated, it’s their “choice,” but warned that it’s “your fault when you’re in the hospital with COVID.”

“It’s a different place”

While other Dems are presumably still too scared to buck the Biden administration’s narrative, Gov. Polis admitted that following the science means following the updated science, and not just the pandemic “science” of 2020, before vaccines were available.

“Well, you know, our top goal is always to follow the science, and there was a time when there was no vaccine and masks were all we had and we needed to wear them and Colorado stepped up, which was great,” the governor said.

He added: “The truth is, we now have highly effective vaccines that work far better than masks, I mean, not even close. If you wear a mask, it does decrease your risk of getting COVID, and that’s a good thing to do indoors around others. But if you get COVID and you are still unvaccinated, the case is just as bad as if you were not wearing a mask.”

“So, it’s a different place. Everybody’s had more than enough opportunity to get vaccinated, I think. … At this point, if you haven’t been vaccinated, it’s really your own darn fault,” Polis continued.

“Not their job”

The Democratic governor doubled down on his stance regarding mask-wearing now that the COVID-19 emergency is behind us.

“The emergency is over. So, you know, public health doesn’t get to tell people what to wear. I mean, that’s just not their job,” Polis said.

He added: “You don’t tell people what to wear. You don’t tell people to wear a jacket when they go out in winter and force them to. If they get frostbite, it’s their own darn fault.”

It’s certainly refreshing to see a high-profile Democrat finally bring logic and common sense to the table instead of fearmongering and pushing narratives to further an agenda. Hopefully, other Dem governors will soon follow his example.
